Date: 22 December 2023
Early this month (December 2023), the first NHS trusts successfully registered with the new NHS DSP.
As part of Wave 1 of the pilot, four trusts were selected to register:
Midlands | Coventry and Warwickshire | George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust |
Midlands | Coventry and Warwickshire | University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust |
NE&Y | South Yorkshire | Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT |
NE&Y | South Yorkshire | Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS FT |
The four trusts volunteered to take part in the pilot and have worked with the NHS DSP team over the past 12-18 months.
The Pilot Trust Leads and their teams have contributed to product and service development during this period, whilst also getting their own teams ready to register and implement.
Pilot Trust Leads are supported by other team Leads from each NHS trust, covering:
Richard Heywood, the Business Change Lead for the NHS DSP team:
"The whole project team is proud to reach this significant milestone and see everyone's hard work come to fruition.
Our Wave 1 pilot trusts have been instrumental in supporting the NHS DSP develop and reach readiness to initial pilot launch.
We'll continue working closely with the four teams into 2024, to support scaling use of the service, whilst identifying areas of improvement for Wave 2".
The four trusts will take a planned, small-scale, incremental approach to implementation.
Wave 1 feedback will improve the product and service, to ensure the NHS DSP users receive a positive experience.
When the updates are complete, the NHS DSP team will ask the NHS trusts in Wave 2 to register and start their own small-scale, incremental implementation.
